Shakti Dance Academy is proud to be a registered school for Bharatanatyam in Charlotte, with the Silicon Andhra Institute's SAMPADA, Silicon Andhra Music and Performing Arts and Dance Academy.

Fourteen SDA students appeared for the first time in the SAMPADA Bharatanatyam Level 1 certification exam. More than half of them passed with a score in the distinction category - setting the bar very high for the years to come.

The  students were tested on both the practical and theory aspects of Bharatanatyam, providing them with an opportunity to learn this art style more holistically. Students are encouraged to earn the certification alongside their practical training, giving them a comprehensive understanding of this dance form, and the cultural background of India. The students will be certified as a Junior after completing Levels 1 & 2, and certified as a Senior after completing Levels 3 & 4.

The SAMPADA exam is administered by the Silicon Andhra University, and has an affiliation with the Potti Sriramulu University of Andhra Pradhesh.
